About Me
Cameron developed her love for all things creative at a young age. A dancer, musician, and avid reader, she could often be found quietly reading in the corner of the family’s motorhome. Raised by two school administrators in Orange County, California, avid reading was a family trait. Cameron attended her undergrad on a music scholarship for Jazz at Chapman University and continued to earn subsequent degrees in Cross-Cultural Education, Curriculum and Instruction and earned specialties in Gifted and Reading Instruction. A university professor of 15 years and doctor of Superintendency with an Education Specialist degree from Ball State University, Cameron’s dissertation research focused on high achieving low socioeconomic schools. Over the past 15 years, Cameron has lived and worked in Italy, Germany, Korea, and Cuba and is currently serving military students and families as a Gifted and ESOL Specialist on an island in the Caribbean with her son Trent where she met her husband Mike.

Mommy’s Boots
A short poem delving into the depths of what it means to be a mom and a service member, Mommy's Boots will capture your heart and remind you how moms are real superheroes. It's a beautiful tribute to a mother who has had a life full of adventure and experience serving in the military. The repetition of "Mommy's Boots?" and the response "Yup" creates a sense of familiarity and comfort. The imagery of the boots climbing the mast of a Navy Destroyer and leaving footprints in the sand on an airstrip in the Middle East is powerful and evocative. The contrast between the poverty seen and the best pasta tasted creates a sense of the highs and lows of life. The final lines, "I carried you in those boots, I carried your sister in those boots. Yes, those boots are mommy boots," is a poignant reminder of the mother's love and strength. Overall, this poem is a touching tribute to a mother's life and experiences while serving her country with pride. Find out where Mommy's Boots have traveled in this inspiring piece.
